The regional conference, “Political Socialization: Childhood and Youth, Tendencies and Contratendencias ,” took place from November 12 to 15 in Manizales (Colombia). The event consisted of roundtables and seminars discussing the conceptual and methodological aspects of research with children, adolescents, and youth in Latin America today. CIESPI was represented by its Director, Irene Rizzini, who also serves as President of Childwatch International Research Network. She presented the topic “Contexts and Processes of Child and Youth Participation.” The other representative from the Center is the researcher Alexandre Bárbara Soares who, on this occasion, presented the results of an international research study on Youth and Participation in Contexts of Exclusion, conducted by 4 countries of the Latin American and Caribbean Regional Network. This research is part of the Childwatch International Research Network project, “International Diplomacy for the Formation of Young Researchers,” launched in 2008 in a two-week seminar held in the same city. Also involved in this project is Renata Tavares, currently a guest researcher at CIESPI. The conference is organized by CINDE (The International Center for Education and Human Development) and by the University of Manizales.
